From an outsider's perspective, Louise seems to have it all. Coming from a wealthy and well-respected family of talented magicians, she attends a prestigious magic academy with the prospect of one day serving her country's queen – the dream of any noble.

But those are hollow blessings. Louise was not gifted with the affinity for magic which would allow her to meet the expectations placed upon her shoulders. In her hands, the art which decides one's worth as a noble is only good for producing random explosions. It is not for lack of effort on her part – no matter how much she studies and practices, the only result awaiting her is more humiliation.

If it were only the ridicule of her classmates Louise has to face, she could still fight back by letting her short temper run wild, put on a brave face, and pretend those 'passing difficulties' mean nothing to her. But, Louise herself is the harshest judge, angry at herself for her lack of ability. Her desire for power is the fruit of a powerful sense of duty towards the queen and the pride of a noble's heart. If she cannot carry out the role set out for her from the moment she was born, what is she even worth?

What Louise has to learn is that it is never too late to discover one's true talents. And if she can learn to accept herself, then maybe she can become honest enough to allow others inside her heart.
